Now consider a purchasing manager for a huge
PC vendor such as Compaq or Dell. The purchasing manager
approaches that same manufacturer of Ethernet network adapters and
negotiates a volume price for procuring 100,000 or more of these every
month. And by the way, the Ethernet network adapter manufacturer
won’t need to supply fancy retail, shrink-wrapped boxes,
installation guides or media. And the huge PC vendor will
provide all the technical support.
Quite obviously, the giant PC vendor will get a
much better deal than you or I could ever hope for at the
retail, or even “perceived” wholesale level. Now extrapolate the
discussion out to monitors, hard drives, RAM, operating systems,
software applications and more, and you begin to see how the huge
PC vendors can include these bundled items for such a low
incremental cost.
So take advantage of as many of these bundled product offers as you
possibly can. They tend to be fabulous values.

which hardware options are great deals and which are just average
deals?
When considering hardware component options
with the purchase of a new PC, do you consider both soft costs and
