PC Hardware Specs
Choose the right PC hardware specs to save big money on
unpredictable installation and support costs.

|
Although promoted PC configurations change
daily and weekly, there are some must have and some recommended
optional line items to look for when you purchase a small business
PC.
In a perfect world, all software and hardware
vendors claiming compatibility, under a particular operating system
or PC environment, would have products that work well together. But,
this isn’t a perfect world.

You can save yourself considerable time and
potential aggravation, and pick up substantial out-of-pocket
savings, by getting various hardware components and software
programs preinstalled with the purchase of a new PC.
In much the same way that you’ll often find greater overall value
by getting more menu items bundled into a complete dinner at a
restaurant, such as when a meal includes soup, salad, beverage or
dessert, there are many times when it makes small business sense to
purchase various hardware components and upgrades with the purchase
of the PC -- as opposed to shopping for these hardware components
and upgrades a la carte at a later date. And we’re not just
talking about out-of-pocket cost savings. There is huge potential
soft cost savings as well.
Action Items
When you purchase new PC hardware, do you
typically have a shopping list of must have and optional components?
Have you ever tried to upgrade or add on a
component to a PC yourself and run into major compatibility problems
because of internal system conflicts or operating system
incompatibilities?
When you purchase a new PC, do you ask
about options that can be factory installed to eliminate frustration
and potentially expensive support costs?
