Recycle PC / PC Recycling

Dispose of PCs properly.

Years ago, your company never would’ve had a problem finding a taker for an old PC. After your small business got four or five productive years out of a system, you may have given it to an employee to take home, or offered employees the opportunity to purchase the retired PC for an extremely nominal amount. Alternatively, many donated PCs to local schools, charities or nonprofit organizations.

In the past several years, this has all changed. In the U.S., about 60 percent of households own at least one PC. Schools and charities have become so deluged with PC donations that many get more selective on the equipment they’re willing to accept.

In many areas, it’s illegal to dispose of a PC in a dumpster. Rather, the PC needs to be recycled. So how do you accomplish this?

Several PC and electronics recycling programs and resources can help you comply with various environmental regulations as you dispose of long obsolete hardware.
